Who is Rilakkuma?

Rilakkuma is a beloved character from Japan that has captured the hearts of people around the world. With his cute and cuddly appearance, Rilakkuma is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a little bit of extra joy in their life.

So, where did Rilakkuma come from? The story goes that Rilakkuma appeared one day at the door of a young woman named Kaoru. No one knows where Rilakkuma came from or why he showed up, but Kaoru didn't mind. She was happy to have a new friend and let Rilakkuma move in with her. Rilakkuma quickly became a part of the household, and he was joined by two more characters: Korilakkuma, a smaller version of Rilakkuma, and Kiiroitori, a yellow bird. Together, the trio of Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma, and Kiiroitori have all sorts of adventures and get into all sorts of mischief.

Rilakkuma is known for his love of relaxation and comfort. He can often be found lounging around the house, napping or snacking on his favorite treats. Despite his lazy nature, Rilakkuma is always there to lend a helping hand (or paw) to his friends. With his adorable appearance and kind personality, it's no wonder that Rilakkuma has become such a beloved character. Rilakkuma is a brown bear that mysteriously appeared one day in Kaoru's room, Rilakkuma lies lazily anywhere and is always stress free. With a love for pancakes, dumplings, music and spending time at the Hot Springs. Rilakkuma is an example to us all to relax and enjoy life stress free. The most mysterious part of Rilakkuma is the zipper on its back. Is Rilakkuma really a bear, teddy bear or plush? Or is something else inside?

Korilakkuma is Rilakkuma’s mischievous little friend who showed up in Kaoru’s home too. Korilakkuma loves hardcore music and head banging. With its little red button, we also assume that it too may not be a bear at all.

Korilakkuma met Chairoikoguma while on vacation with Rilakkuma and Kiiroitori in the "Honey Forest". It has a bushy chest and when it opens it's mouth reveals fangs! It has bear prints on the soles of each foot and its body smells like sweet honey. Chairoikoguma, (or Kogumachan) is usually seen walking on all fours, even if he can stand up straight like his partners. The four friends all climb the trees together, play tag, and sometimes tend to fight over honey.

Kaoru’s pet bird, Kiiroitori, is not happy with the sudden appearance of Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma as they have made chaos for its normally quiet daily life. Kiiroitori spends time cleaning up after Rilakkuma playing pranks on Korilakkuma and collecting thing, like coins and treats found on the floor.

She works in a metropolitan area (Tokyo). Prior to Rilakkuma’s visit, her daily routine was to sleep at home after an intense day at work. Rilakkuma brought a little laughter to her life. She sometimes buys Rilakkuma’s favorite rice dumpling but decides not to give it because of Rilakkuma’s unacceptable behavior.
