Meet Pira the Mala and her Joey Molly! Malas, also called Rufous hare-wallabies, are nocturnal marsupials which means they sleep during the day and are awake during the night! They lived throughout Central and West Australia, but sadly Malas went extinct in the wild due to habitat loss and predators like foxes. Today, Malas like Pira and Molly are raised and protected in sanctuaries.
